Non-launderable Microfiber vs. Re-laundered Microfiber |
Since 2015, Contec has been conducting studies examining concerns with using relaundered microfiber products and how those concerns can be addressed by utilizing single-use products. A summary of the studies' resulting white paper is presented here.
- Laundry processes can cause irreversible damage to microfiber structures that are essential for cleaning
- Retention and accumulation of microbes and debris can occur during repeated use leading to deactivation of disinfectants and increased risk of cross-contamination (See Figure A)
- The combination of damaged microfiber and contaminated textiles may lead to poor outcomes after cleaning with laundered mops per ATP results (See Figure B)
- A viable alternate is to use non-launderable (i.e., disposable, one-time-use) microfiber cleaning products for more consistent cleaning outcomes with no risk of cross-contamination
Contec® PREMIRA® non-launderable Microfiber Pads provide superior dirt and debris removal compared to reusable textiles like cotton or re-laundered microfiber. PREMIRA® reduces the risk of cross-contamination. They're designed to be compatible with a wide array of mop hardware. And, they won't neutralize quat or peroxide-based disinfectants.
