Facility Cleaning Decisions

Making the most of summer break

For in-house cleaning teams at educational facilities, summer school is a little different than it is for the students that roam the halls 9 months out of the year. With a relatively empty building, summer is the cleaning team’s chance to catch up on deep cleaning and other major initiatives.

Before embarking on the summer’s journey, facility cleaning managers need the most up-to-date information on tools, processes and more to help their cleaning teams make the most of their time before students start filling their classrooms again in the fall. That’s why Facility Cleaning Decisions is featuring an educational theme in our May/June issue: every article will relate to educational facilities. That’s not to say that the information is only for schools though; it will certainly apply to our broad audience of in-house facility cleaning managers.

We’re excited to host a roundtable, made up of members of the Facility Cleaning Decisions Editorial Advisory Board, to get their perspectives on all manners of industry trends as our cover story in this issue. Topics will include facility design changes, supply chain updates, process improvements and changing occupant demands. Our roundtable will look toward the future of products and techniques and how to manage budgets, schedules, technology and more.

Here are some of the other topics we’re covering:

  • Floor Care Equipment: Flooring types and finishes are always evolving, and so the equipment and techniques used to care for them must as well. We’ll review the current state of burnishing and discover how custodial departments can maximize their time, effort and budget without compromising care or safety.
  • Odor Control: Aside from restrooms, where are the most likely odor hot spots in readers’ facilities? Our focus in this article will be exploring other lesser-known problem areas and discussing odor masking, eradication and other methods of removal for each.
  • Healthy Schools: Educational facilities are part of an industry-wide trend toward using maturity models to measure the success of their process and management styles. Readers will learn how this new tool can help integrate health and sustainability into their operations.

As you can see, our May/June issue will be packed with information that in-house cleaning professionals, both in educational and other kinds of facilities, need to have to continue to evolve their craft. You’ll want to be part of that evolution, of course, and positioning your brand alongside this important content is the easiest way to start that conversation.
