Cover Story:
Vendor Management Inventory

Distribution software manufacturers report that Vender Managed Inventory (VMI) agreements, and the necessary software, are gaining popularity among distributors. VMI could potentially work for both manufacturer-distributor relationships and distributor-end user relationships. In a VMI agreement, the customer shares electronic inventory data with the vendor, and the vendor is then responsible for generating replenishment orders based on demand. Sanitary Maintenance details the rise of VMI agreements, the benefits and risks of a VMI agreement to both parties, how to set up a VMI agreement, and pitfalls in such agreements.

ISSA/INTERCLEAN Pre-Show
Sanitary Maintenance previews the upcoming convention in Las Vegas, including new and noteworthy features, keynote speakers and networking events.

Ice Melt
We explore how to avoid different ice melt shortage scenarios. This feature will include planning tips for winters with extreme snowfall. It will also discuss how the fracking industry is causing a shortage of calcium chloride and what alternative products distributors should look into. Finally, ice melt shortages cause problems for LEED facilities if they can’t purchase the required green ice melt products.

Brooms, Brushes, Mops
Color-coding mops, buckets, brushes and other hand tools in healthcare and foodservice facilities can prevent cross-contamination, hospital acquired infections and foodborne illnesses. Manufactures offer numerous colors so users can designate one color to each specific area in a facility. Since not all janitors speak English fluently, color-coding helps simplify training and prevents potentially deadly contamination mistakes.

Cleaners and Disinfectants
Concentrated bottles with a built-in proportioner are a new way to dilute on the go and create accurate cleaning products. This article discusses how these products work, how to use them correctly and their benefits.
