See Cleaning’s Future At Interclean |
In 2016, I had the opportunity to attend Interclean Amsterdam for the first time. I had always heard that this was the show to visit to truly see the latest cleaning innovations.
I can say from experience that the rumors are true. If U.S. jan/san distributors want to know where the industry is heading and find new products to introduce to their customers, then they need to attend Interclean Amsterdam taking place May 15-18.
This event is the largest in the cleaning industry, with more than 850 exhibitors and 30,000 visitors from around the world. Even though the show is massive, it’s easy to navigate the halls. Each area is either arranged by country or product type, such as equipment, restroom and software. These dedicated pavilions ensure that you won’t miss an innovation in each product sector.
With so many exhibitors and visitors, there are countless opportunities for distributors to find a new solution for their customers. The Innovation LAB showcases Amsterdam Innovation Award nominees, so it is easy to spot cutting-edge products. In addition, the show’s numerous networking events can lead to new business opportunities. When I spoke with international manufacturers, many were looking for U.S. distributors to bring their products to America.
Besides displaying the newest products, Interclean emphasizes the latest trends. Healthcare-associated infections are a global threat, costing countries millions of dollars. New to the 2018 show will be the Healthcare Cleaning Island. This space will include a demonstration area comprised of a patient room and operating theater to give attendees real-world examples of disinfecting products in action. Also at the island will be a seminar theater, where on May 16, the Healthcare Forum will present sessions on healthcare-associated infections, patient safety, cleaning to prevent infections, and other topics.
In addition to infection control, distributors can learn how to help their customers reduce trash in the Zero Waste LAB. This workshop will run continuously during show hours, sorting out recyclables and compostable material from the event’s trash.
Another trend on display will be robotics, and distributors can see the latest developments at the Robot Arena. Last time, four companies had machines on display. With robotics projected to be a $2.5 billion market, I expect the number of participants to at least double.
I’m looking forward to returning to Amsterdam for Interclean. I hope that you will be able to join me.
