Integrate Full Cycle™ floor pads and differentiate your business. Americo's pads are made using 100% recycled PET plastic and are specially formulated to biodegrade once discarded into an active landfill.* READ MORE
What happens after these floor pads are discarded into an active landfill? Unfortunately, used floor pads end up in landfills where it can take hundreds (possibly thousands) of years for them to degrade into their basic organic components. Given the complexity and chemical composition of the components used in manufacturing floor pads, neither recycling nor composting are considered feasible options for discarded floor pads.
Closing the Cycle
With advancements in technology and in response to demand for eco-friendly products, Americo introduced Full Cycle™ floor pads to the marketplace in 2014. These pads have the same overall appearance, durability and performance as conventional pads. And similar to their conventional counterparts, they can be used for various floor cleaning applications, including stripping, scrubbing, polishing and burnishing. Full cycle™ floor pads are made from recycled PET plastic and then specially formulated to biodegrade at a far faster rate than conventional pads, once discarded into an active landfill.* While actual conditions vary from landfill to landfill, which will affect the rate of biodegradation, this significantly shorter time frame allows participating landfills that have methane-to-energy collection systems in place to capture landfill emissions.** READ MORE
Richard Rones
Americo Manufacturing Company’s very own president and ISSA president-elect, Richard Rones will begin serving his presidential term during the ISSA Convention in Chicago later this fall. Richard has worked in the cleaning and maintenance industry for nearly 30 years. Over the years, he has served the ISSA board of directors in other capacities and understands members share similar challenges, concerns and interests. Richard states “I find that ISSA brings together some of the brightest minds and best resources to all those in Jan/San. That’s why I originally decided to get involved and the reason I continue to support ISSA.” READ MORE

*ASTM D5511 lab testing showed that up to 90% of the biodegradable material in Americo's Full Cycle™ floor pad biodegraded in 14 months, as compared to less than 7% of our conventional pads. Such lab tests represent optimal conditions and often show faster results than actual landfill conditions. The actual rate of biodegradation of Americo's Full Cycle™ pads and all other plastic materials in landfills will be slower and more variable, dependent upon actual landfill conditions. Test results do not imply that the product will decompose completely. (click to see test results).
** When Americo’s Full Cycle™ pads begin to biodegrade, the by-products of the anaerobic biodegradation process are the biogases methane (CH4) and carbon dioxide (CO2), and a rich soil-like residue sometimes referred to as humus. Methane gas can be captured and converted to energy, where facilities exist.1 For a current listing of The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Landfill Methane Outreach Program (LMOP) click here!
