When first introduced Battery Vacuums were only used for specialty tasks; things like high level cleaning or working off ladders. Today they are a mainstay in any facilities’ equipment program. Why the shift?
- Productivity and Efficiency
- Day time cleaning capabilities and Risk prevention
- ROI
NaceCare™ offers three market leading battery vacuums; two canister models and a backpack. Unlike years ago, today’s units are much lighter and run longer on a single charge making them ideal for daily cleaning of any facility.
Approximate Production Rates of all Types of Vacuums
Upright vacuums – 3,000 sq.ft/hr.
Canister vacuums – 6,000 sq.ft/hr.
Backpack vacuums – 7,500 sq.ft/hr.
Battery canister vacuums – 10,000 sq.ft/hr. (NaceCare NBV 180 and 220)
Battery Backpack vacuums – 15,000 sq.ft/hr. (NaceCare RBV 130)
The benefits quickly become apparent when adding these production rates to the fact that walking is reduced by 40% when utilizing battery over corded technology.
This increase in productivity and subsequent cost savings allow a facility manager a solution to the increasing pressure to do more with less. Increased production rates not only lower the cost of labor but also allow for other tasks to be performed that are neglected due to time constraints.
Day time cleaning capabilities and Risk prevention
We are seeing day time cleaning utilized much more often today. From simply vacuuming up the ice melt being tracked into the lobby to a complete daytime cleaning program; the ability to clean quickly and quietly is becoming a necessity.
Battery powered vacuums are the ideal solution for this daytime environment. They are safe for both the operator and for others as the risk of tripping is eliminated without the cord and the voltage is lower. If the salt and sand happen to be a little moist you have 36 volts on the floor as opposed to 110 volts! NaceCare offers three machines that all work extremely well in this environment. Being the industry’s quietest, only 45 decibels, they allow everyone else in the environment to work well too.
The NBV 180 and NBV 220 are 2 and 3 gallon canister units. The 220 features a built in cart allowing for easy storage and transport of the hose, wand and floor tool. It also provides storage for cleaning products or a second battery should it be required; perfectly designed for maintaining that office tower lobby.
The RBV 130 backpack is 1.5 gallon (6 Qt.) and at only 16 pounds it is compact, comfortable and light enough for anyone to use. The tank has patented ribs ensuring no suction is lost as the bag fills; virtually guaranteeing peak performance for the entire job. It also features an easy to reach on/off switch with a built-in battery gauge.
All three units feature 250 watt high efficiency motors powered by the same 36 volt globally certified lithium polymer batteries and chargers. This allows the batteries to be interchangeable between units creating efficiencies and reducing down time. With a run time of 45 minutes and a charge time of only 2.5 hours; they are designed to get the job done.
Return on Investment (ROI) on the NBV 180, 220 and the RBV 130
Many people assume that powerful battery vacuums will be too costly but with list prices under $1,300 we are proud to dispel such assumptions. With replacement and additional batteries costing only $350, you won’t suffer from sticker shock like the replacement batteries for other units on the market.
At NaceCare™ we also offer custom software to our customers to calculate the cost of vacuuming any size building using any of the above-listed vacuums. Once the cleaning cost is calculated, a cost comparison between the different methods is generated. From here we simply determine the capital cost to outfit the building with different types of vacuums and run an ROI comparison between them.
This information tells the customer how quickly an investment in battery vacuums would be paid back based on the increased productivity levels. As an analytical tool it quickly provides the decision maker with all the relevant information required to make the best vacuum choice for them and their specific facility. Our background is commercial cleaning so, like you, we understand the difference between cost and price.
If you haven’t yet tested a battery vacuum first hand, we strongly encourage you to try one. The results speak for themselves.
