Cover Story — Back to School
Starting the school year off right. This will be a roundtable discussion with facility cleaning managers in K-12 and colleges/universities. It'll cover challenges they face when starting a new school year, healthy initiatives that keep attendance numbers up, challenges controlling infections as they approach flu season and where green/sustainability programs fit into the mix.
Handwashing
This article will cover the regulatory changes made to hand soaps (antibacterial/triclosan and microbeads) and sanitizers (recent FDA rule) and what they mean to facilities and their handwashing initiatives. Specifically, it should include a short explanation of the changes/rules and how they might impact cleaning departments. Then it should cover what managers should consider before purchasing, how they can work with distributors to identify the best products, and how they can still provide strong handwashing programs to building occupants, despite product changes.
Cleaners & Disinfectants
This article will break down the differences between cleaning, sanitizing and disinfecting and how to train staff to implement the processes effectively.
Professional Development
This article will focus on personal and professional development for facility cleaning managers and their team. It'll cover the differences between personal and professional development, encouraging employees to have a say in what kind of development they want, and how to implement a development program for those who are just getting started.
Green Cleaning in Schools
This article will focus on healthy and green cleaning initiatives in K-12 schools, as well as colleges and universities. It will be written by Kimberly Thomas, director of facilities management at University of Georgia and Green Clean Schools Steering Committee member from the Healthy Schools Campaign. It will focus on analyzing existing green cleaning programs and their effectiveness in an effort to improve facility cleaning requests.
Green Cleaning
This column will be written by Mark Petruzzi, former Senior Vice President of Outreach and Strategic Relations at Green Seal. It will focus on what facility cleaning executives can do to improve/support green and sustainable initiatives within their facilities.
