Cover Story

Insourcing vs. Outsourcing – This article will provide in-house departments with information they can use to fight outsourcing, beyond "stepping up" on cleaning initiatives or implementing green. It will cover some strategies BSCs might use to take over cleaning from in-house departments, and what managers can do to prevent this from happening. It will also cover some of the areas where outsourcing might actually help facilities accomplish cleaning while staying within budgets (outsourcing specialty tasks).

Cleaners & Disinfectants/Infection Control:

This article will take a closer look at electrostatic technology, what it is and what it isn't. We'll cover where it fits into an existing cleaning/disinfecting program, as well as what types of facilities and surfaces would benefit from its use. The article will touch on how using this technology leads to lower infection rates and speed of cleaning processes.

Floor Pads & Brushes

Premium vs Budget Floor Pads – Outline the value to each type of floor pad and why departments would opt for one over the other.

Matting

This article will tap into manufacturers of matting products and will take on a roundtable format. We'll present questions we've received from facility cleaning managers about matting and present those to manufacturers for comment.

Healthy Schools

This article will feature Gene Woodard, Director of Building Services at University of Washington, Facility Cleaning Decisions Advisory Board Member, and founding member of Green Clean Schools Steering Committee, a subsidiary of Healthy Schools Campaign. The article will highlight opportunities for improving ergonomics in cleaning so as to create greener and cleaner facilities, while keeping workers safe.

Green Column

Advice from experts that live and breathe green. This column will be written by Mark Petruzzi, Senior Vice President of Outreach and Strategic Relations at Green Seal. It will focus on what facility cleaning executives can do to improve/support green and sustainable initiatives within their facilities.

Management Column

This column, written by ManageMen's Ben Walker, will offer solutions to management challenges Ben has witnessed while out in the field, as well as advice for overcoming cleaning challenges.
