Restroom Care

Empty soap and towel dispensers is the No. 1 restroom complaint from facility executives. Implementing dispensers with Internet of Things technology can help alleviate this problem in two ways. First, IoT equipped dispensers alert staff when stock levels are running low. Janitors can refill dispensers before there is a problem. In addition, a few months after installation, BSCs can analyze the usage data collected by these dispensers and reroute their cleaning schedules to address certain restrooms more or less frequently, based on traffic patterns.

*The Restroom Care article will feature a Special Product Section on Towel and Tissue

Engineered Water

Engineered water, also called on-site generation, is a way to make cleaners, sanitizers and disinfectants on demand at a facility. There are two types of engineered water: aqueous ozone and hypochlorous acid. This article will explain the difference between the two, what surfaces can be cleaned using these products, and the equipment needed to make products on site.

Immigration:

Many building service contractors rely on legal immigrants to staff its janitorial crews, but there soon could be sizeable vacancies to fill. The Trump administration is proposing to end Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (Daca) in March. In addition, the president is terminating the Temporary Protected Status for nearly 200,000 workers from El Salvador and another 46,000 from Haiti in 2019. Hundreds, if not thousands, of these workers are employed in the contract cleaning industry.
